I love this.
Something I NEVER expected as a result of our adoption(s), is the huge community that God has brought together. Adoption is something special and for those who have adopted, or have a heart to be a momma (or papa) to a child just have an uncommon and immediate connection. We just KNOW. I am so thankful for all the people that God has brought into our path!
And now this month, the connection to this family is quite amazing. I met Bridgette on Jen Hatmaker’s For the Love Launch Team. This team is STILL going strong, with weddings, babies, adoptions and all around women loving each other through life. Jen’s motto: Be Kind, Be You, Love Jesus.
It really is that simple, and this group has shown that over and over. In fact, they have been one of the reasons, I feel so inspired to continue to sew and use my talents to do just this: to be ME. And part of me, is sewing and creating, and it’s a gift God gave me to love others. So here I am, and here is my second family, a friend I met in person in Austin at Jen’s house (did that really happen??? selah)!
It is my privilege to introduce you to Craig and Bridgette Cook. They are hoping to adopt a little both in Ethiopia AND domestically in the United States!
Here is a little note from Bridgett:
We are Craig and Bridgette Cook, and we live in Central Florida. Craig is a network manager/worship pastor and Bridgette is a kindergarten teacher. Our adoption journey began in April 2014 after we had only been married for five months. We knew that God was calling us to build our family through adoption, and we could not wait to start the process! We also knew that adoptions from Ethiopia could take a while. After ten months of paperwork, our file was translated and registered in Ethiopia on February 9, 2015, officially starting our wait to be matched with our son or daughter.
As the months passed, estimated wait times kept going up for Ethiopia, so we began to pray about what to do during the long wait. After many months of praying, we felt led to begin the process to adopt a newborn baby from Florida.
So here we are! Waiting for two sweet babies on two different continents. We expect it to be 2+ years before we are matched and bring our son or daughter home from Ethiopia. However, we anticipate our domestic (Florida) adoption to be much faster. We have signed on with Bethany Christian Services, and we will be officially waiting for to be matched with a Florida baby in June! We are trying to save and raise $17,000 before we are matched to cover the adoption expenses that we have not paid yet!
SO friends, would you join me this month in supporting the Cook family? 20% of all items I sell go directly to their adoption expenses. You can purchase items in my shop or on my FB page by commenting on a picture! If you want to read more about their journey, you can check out their blog here!
